As many of you know, I have recently picked up sticks and moved from beautiful British Columbia back to my long-time home, Toronto. This is the fortunate and stunning view I now have from my balcony and I’m gob-smacked and thrilled.
Most of you also know that I loved exploring in BC. The mountains. The ocean. The rainforests and the lovely trails that wound through them like the veins around your heart. I thought perhaps it might be home. I even drove cross-country to bring back a cherished family heirloom to my Coquitlam apartment last summer during The Great Farm Hutch Adventure. I was that certain that I had found my forever home.
Yet.
It was not until I moved back to Toronto and had a chance to breathe, reflect and visit family and friends that I realized that indeed, home IS where the heart is. While I won’t be taking any beloved rainforest hikes here in Ontario, or shuttling up a gondola to a stunning mountain top in Squamish..or…or…or…I do not find myself missing these cherished activities in that beautiful, stunning province. My relieved heart is telling me I am in the right place.
Perhaps Malala Yousafzai says it best “If you go anywhere, even paradise, you will miss your home.”

Hi, I’m Patti, wonderer, wanderer and photographer. During the week I’m a marketer in the publishing industry and on weekends I take to the road to explore this beautiful planet we live on.
You are so right Patti. Tom and I left our home of 35 years at the end of June and have lived in a rental home for 3 months, one month in Mexico (I know, no sympathy there) and now we are headed back to Cobourg ON to live in a hotel before our new home is ready at the end of November. How’s that! HOME surely is where the heart is! I hope we cross paths in Toronto over the coming months.
Sue! You have been all over the place! I imagine you will savour your first night in your new home when it is ready! Cobourg is not very far away so let’s plan a catch up visit!
